I ran across this site last year when I was searching for good scientific graphics and icons for my eLearning modules. I didn’t ultimately use them at the time, but can’t wait until I find a project that would benefit from these awesome vectors! But that’s not all! The university also has an image library that is free to download from! You can select the images you want and add them to a light box and create a zip file download. How cool is that? It’s WAY cool. They also have great info on environmental science, forums, online seminars and more.
Please Note: You must register on their site to obtain the free download. It is quick and painless, I promise. After you register, you will immediately receive a link to the download at the email address you provide them. There are several different versions of PC/MAC downloads to choose from. I wish you all awesome abundant design projects where you will get to use these quality icons.
From their site:
The IAN symbol libraries , provided by the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, contain over 1500 custom made vector symbols (in 32 categories) designed specifically for enhancing science communication skills.
Included in the FREE download are:
- 32 self-installing symbol libraries
- 1500+ science/ecology symbols
- 100+ custom swatches
- Ecosystem landscape diagrams
- Interactive multimedia tutorial
- PDF index of all symbols
The symbols allow diagrammatic representations of complex processes to be developed easily with minimal graphical skills, are free of cost and royalty free. The university states that an acknowledgement is not mandatory, but greatly appreciated. Visit their site to download your FREE vectors today!
