Pardon the graphic language in these vids. It parodies a situation that is unfortunately all to common!

Who in the world does this dweeb (and dweebs the world over with mentality on this subject like he exhibits) thinks brings their messages to life in compelling ways that are highly noticed by their intended targets? Graphic freakin’ designers…that’s who!!!!!!!!! Graphic Designers are the unsung heros behind every successful company, marketing campaign, product launch…I could go on and on. and on. ABC’s 20/20 and John Stossel shouldn’t have bothered. Really. grrrr!!!

This video was created by award-winning graphic designer, Antoine Bardou-Jacquet. The music was created by French DJ, Alex Gopher. Antoine Bardou-Jacquet’s design background is really interesting. If you’ve got time after watching the video, read more about his snazzy design career HERE
A simple story set in New York in which a young couple en route to the hospital to deliver their baby, rush across town through an alphabet jungle of buildings, bridges and roads made entirely of words. “The Child” collected awards at festivals all over Europe and has developed a cult video following by font lovers and graphic designers.

I ran across this site last year when I was searching for good scientific graphics and icons for my eLearning modules. I didn’t ultimately use them at the time, but can’t wait until I find a project that would benefit from these awesome vectors! But that’s not all! The university also has an image library that is free to download from! You can select the images you want and add them to a light box and create a zip file download. How cool is that? It’s WAY cool. They also have great info on environmental science, forums, online seminars and more.
Please Note: You must register on their site to obtain the free download. It is quick and painless, I promise. After you register, you will immediately receive a link to the download at the email address you provide them. There are several different versions of PC/MAC downloads to choose from. I wish you all awesome abundant design projects where you will get to use these quality icons.
From their site:
The IAN symbol libraries , provided by the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, contain over 1500 custom made vector symbols (in 32 categories) designed specifically for enhancing science communication skills.
Included in the FREE download are:
- 32 self-installing symbol libraries
- 1500+ science/ecology symbols
- 100+ custom swatches
- Ecosystem landscape diagrams
- Interactive multimedia tutorial
- PDF index of all symbols
The symbols allow diagrammatic representations of complex processes to be developed easily with minimal graphical skills, are free of cost and royalty free. The university states that an acknowledgement is not mandatory, but greatly appreciated. Visit their site to download your FREE vectors today!
